Turtle Rescue and Salsa Continued

I was hoping to put up some pictures of the Hawksbill turtle that we saved, but I didn't get the pictures yet. Here is a picture of our rescued turtle's cousin.

Well, Steph got off work early and I took a break from the work on the house. I left Ethan and Gayle and went for a little drive to Cottages and wound up chatting with Nancy (our boss at Blue Moon) and Lindy (manager at Cottages). Then a guest at from cottages told us their was a huge turtle trapped on a porch. So, we went over and tried to make her more comfortable (water was refreshing for her, but the towel made her scared). Everyone was calling everyone. The turtle rescue agency Wimarcs came by and the local vet and Fish and Wildlife even showed up.

The turtle was looking for a place to lay her eggs and got stuck. Her wound wasn't bad and we got to watch her be carried back to the ocean and swim away. It was a very happy moment.

Ill post some pics when I have them.

Then, I thought you would all be encouraged to know that Ethan and I are still attending salsa classes. Its soooo much fun. I highly recommend everyone take a class if there is one in their area, especially if you are coming to our wedding. The more people that know it, the more fun the 'casino' round is. Cuban salsa is done in a round, where the leader calls out and everyone follows, switches partners, and such. Ok, we haven't quite gotten to that level yet, but I am hopeful.

Hurricane Dean

We were spared by Dean, but the waves were huge. Everyone in St. Croix takes hurricane preparedness very seriously. I guess Hugo is still a very real experience for everyone that lived through it. We filled our cars with gas, we got cash out, and we even started to board up the house. The winds were strong, but nothing more than a few big gusts. The waves were fabulous and especially on the west side. Ethan braved the waves with a boogie board, but decided that he needed a bit more practice in smaller waves first.

Setting this blog up.

So, the new blog is up and running. If you have anything you think we should add to this site, please email us. We have tried to include links of things that are will show you St. Croix and our lives here.

I don't have anything insightful to say, but I thought I would add a few more pictures.

There's something wrong with this picture...

Salsa Classes

Last night, Ethan and I went to the Salsa Social for the last session of salsa lessons. We know a couple people that take the classes and have been very interested in learning. The social was at Walsh Metal in the gallery, yes thats where Ethan works. We met a few new people, Ethan re-connected with a few old friends, and we watched some fabulous dancing. We are both so excited about starting classes next week. The class is taught by one of Ethan's swimming friends from childhood, who moved to Cuba and married a Cuban man. So they dance a very authentic Cuban salsa. The only worry is if we can handle it. Barb and Mike Walsh go every Tuesday and Thursady. Barb says it is very frustrating at first. Well, we'll keep you posted on that.

Let's see, we are still working on the house. Actually its Saturday, so we are off to do some stuff today. Last week, we had a annual dinner for work. Our staff is small, with only 5 permanent staff and two summer interns. All of the families of the staff were invited and I have posted a picture here. It was at Elizabeth's at the Palms.
